The Wallflowers to celebrate Bringing Down the Horse’s 30th anniversary with expansive world tour

Jakob Dylan and his crew will play their 1996 breakthrough and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Long After Dark in full at 80 shows across the U.S. and Europe.

The Wallflowers to celebrate Bringing Down the Horse’s 30th anniversary with expansive world tour

May 21 marks the 30th anniversary of Bringing Down the Horse, the Wallflowers’ breakthrough second album. To celebrate, Jakob Dylan and his longtime band will play over 80 shows across two continents. In addition, the Wallflowers will play Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ 1982 LP Long After Dark in full. “Coming back after such a long time, we wanted to do something special for the 30th anniversary of Bringing Down the Horse,” Dylan shared in a statement. “We decided to play what seems to be our fans’ favorite Wallflowers album, and for us, we wanted to play one of our favorite Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers records, Long After Dark.”

The T Bone Burnett-produced Bringing Down the Horse peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200, selling 4 million copies. Lead single “6th Avenue Heartache” reached the Top 10 on the Alternative Airplay chart, while “One Headlight” went to #1 on the Adult Alternative Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay, Alternative Airplay, and Mainstream Rock charts and became the band’s signature tune. The Wallflowers were nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song (“6th Avenue Heartache”) in 1997 and Best Rock Performance (“One Headlight”) and Best Rock Song (“One Headlight” and “The Difference”) in 1998. Three decades later, Bringing Down the Horse is still the Wallflowers’ highest-selling album.
