Trace Adkins got into a fight with a Trace Adkins impersonator, but was really just fighting himself
In a story unusually fraught with Jungian implications, even for the mapping of the collective unconscious that is country music, TMZ reports that country music star Trace Adkins has checked himself into rehab after fighting with a Trace Adkins impersonator. The Celebrity Apprentice winner was reportedly headlining a “country cruise headed to Jamaica,” when the cognitive dissonance of those words appearing in the same sentence together was compounded by his encountering of a Trace Adkins copy who, if he does not perform under the name “Traced Adkins,” should begin doing so immediately.
According to the report, Adkins watched as his doppelganger sang karaoke in the ship’s bar, where his 12 years of sobriety reportedly came crashing down amid what, to be honest, sounds like a particularly hellish scenario. Adkins then reportedly fought with his shadow self, grappling Adkins-to-Adkins in a display that might have caused onlookers to muse upon the rich, metaphorical realization of man’s ingrained self-loathing and his constant internal struggles with himself, had it not taken place aboard a “country music cruise.”
Once the ship docked, Adkins immediately left and checked himself into rehab, where he can safely beat himself up about his relapse in a far less literal manner.
