Tracy Morgan and Jordan Peele are teaming up for a comedy on FX
Tracy Morgan is getting back into the TV comedy game. Having recently finished work on the Ice Cube/Charlie Day movie Fist Fight—his first major project since recovering from a 2014 car accident that almost took his life—Morgan has signed on to executive produce and star in a new half-hour series for FX, alongside Jordan Peele of the recently concluded Key & Peele.
The new pilot will center on an ex-con—described as “a man whose only expertise is making grilled cheese with an iron”—attempting to reintegrate into modern society after 15 years in prison, adjusting to all these newfangled cellphones and Snapchats and bingewatchable shows about sexy lady prisons. It’s not clear at the moment whether Peele will also star in the show, or if he’ll confine himself to writing duties, along with fellow producer John Carcieri, of Eastbound & Down. The pilot is expected to start shooting this summer.
