Netflix imagines a nuclear crisis in Trinity trailer

Two years after Carry On was a big hit for Netflix over the holidays, the streamer is returning to action thrillers this December. This time, however, it’s a series. This morning, Netflix released the first trailer for Trinity, which is certainly less TSA and more straightforward military thriller. We start with a near-miss of a nuclear warhead hitting a military submarine—or do we? It seems that the “hostiles,” as Commander Katherine Decker says, were never there. What follows is a series of vague statements about codes and war and something called “trinity.”

The trailer for Trinity doesn’t give too much away, but the official plot synopsis reads:

A heroic female naval officer becomes involved with the outwardly charismatic secretary of defense, only to discover he may be at the heart of a dangerous conspiracy.

Tudum shares a bit more about the series, revealing that Decker’s work is complicated by her personal feelings for Secretary of Defense Webb Preston. Trinity stars Game Of Thrones‘ Richard Madden as Preston and Loki‘s Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Decker. The supporting cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, JD Pardo, Bruce Greenwood, Robert Wisdom, Kirk Acevedo, Ben Cotton, James Remar, Jason Ralph, and Mark O’Brien. Trinity premieres on Netflix on December 1.
