Warrior Nun may get back in the habit

After years of attempts, Netflix’s cancelled action series about a demon-slaying woman of God may find itself a new convent.

Warrior Nun may get back in the habit

Years after Netflix delivered the last rights to its Warrior Nun adaptation, TV series creator Simon Barry may have found the means of resurrection. Per Deadline, Barry is in final negotiations to license the rights to the comic series and plans to turn Warrior Nun into a film and TV cinematic universe based on the super-powered woman of the cloth.

The series follows a recently deceased and resurrected 19-year-old, finding her place in the ancient Order of the Cruciform Sword. Trading the nunnery’s favorite weapon, a yardstick, for the magical, demon-slaying Divinium Sword, she protects Earth from heaven and hell alike as the forces of good and evil attempt to control her. The Netflix series launched in 2020 to strong reviews, but like many Netflix shows, a two-year gap between seasons sealed its fate, and the show was canceled roughly a month after season two debuted.

Barry has been working on getting his Nun back to church for several years now. In 2023, the creator told announced he’s working on a film trilogy that never materialized.
