Watch Adam Savage build Barbarella’s space rifle from start to finish

For those who have some time to kill, Mythbusters star Adam Savage released a new hour-long episode of his ongoing series “One Day Builds” on his site, Tested. Unlike the tightly edited Mythbusters, “One Day Builds” captures the minutia of completing a project from start to finish. This time around, Savage is recreating the space rifle from Jane Fonda’s sci-fi cult classic Barbarella. Interestingly, the iconic prop only ever appeared on the cover of a 1968 issue of LIFE magazine.

While not always thrilling, the series highlights the on-the-fly ingenuity as well as the tiny details that go into prop creation. Low-key but oddly satisfying, this is the perfect video for those looking for a not-too-distracting distraction from work.
