Norway is famous for its vibrant but dark metal scene, and Kvelertak is just about the most famous active band out of that culture right now. The group formed in 2007 and released its second album, Meir, earlier this year. The A.V. Club’s Jason Heller called that record, “another anthemic blitzkrieg of classic-rock hooks and blackened frenzy,” and said the band takes “the rudiments of vintage ’70s metal like Judas Priest and Scorpions, then drag[s] it through a minefield of bombast, harmony, and noise.” Sounds pretty good.
Kvelertak is touring with High On Fire beginning this Sunday, Nov. 10, and in anticipation, The A.V. Club is streaming one of the band’s stellar live recordings. Below, find all the band’s tour dates, as well as its take on “Evig Vandrar” live at London’s Electric Ballroom.
