While the actual involvement of The Film Preservation Society and The Steven Spielberg Institution For The Arts in the restoration of The Somersault Waltz film series is dubious (and, in fact, definitely bogus), Andrew W.K.’s stamp of approval is not. And if the rocker can be relied on for anything, it’s to vouch for a good time.

The shorts — which are the brainchild of filmmaker Edward Bursch — follow the adventures of a group of nerds as they encounter a range of scientific and supernatural phenomena largely beyond the scale of their garage. There’s an anthropomorphic computer monitor. There’s astral projection. There’s a great Mothersbaughian soundtrack. Check out the latest installment, “HALF-DEAD,” below.
