Weekend Box Office: Disturbia pulls off the trifecta

For a remarkable third week in a row, Disturbia topped the U.S. box office, beating out all feeble comers with a modest $9.1 million take, though its victory comes with the giant caveat that last weekend was the lowest attended end-of-April weekend in a decade. The film has grossed a respectable $52 million so far, though you'd be hard-pressed to find another movie that's been #1 at the box office three weeks running and made less money. Two new films, The Invisible and Next, took up the next two slots with $7.6 million and $7.2 million respectively, with both leaving off a bit of an odor that kept audiences away. (The Invisible wasn't screened for critics at all, and Next appears to have received only spotty coverage in some cities and wasn't made available in others.) The two other new wide releases performed even worse, with the WWE-produced The Condemned netting $4 million for ninth place and Jamie Kennedy's '80s nostalgia comedy Kickin' It Old Skool missing the Top 10 bubble with a paltry $2.8 million. It would appear that the "Funky Fresh Boys" will not be getting back together for Kickin' It Private Skool.

Can Disturbia upset Spider-Man 3 to win its fourth straight week? Or will Lucky You top them all? Tune in next Monday to resolve the suspense…
