New this week
Fallout (Prime Video, Wednesday, 3 a.m., season two premiere)
Welcome back to the Wasteland, folks. Season two of the sci-fi hit shifts the postapocalyptic action to “New Vegas” as Lucy (Ella Purnell) seeks justice for her father (played by Kyle MacLachlan) and The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) hunts down answers about his own origins. Kumail Nanjiani, Macaulay Culkin, and Justin Theroux are brought into the dystopian fold as guest stars this season. The A.V. Club will recap the show weekly.
Emily In Paris (Netflix, Thursday, 3.a.m., season five premiere)
Emily’s not actually in Paris. She’s in Rome, where she’s been busy leading Agence Grateu’s new Italian headquarters and canoodling with her cashmere-scion boyfriend Marcello. But la dolce vita starts to sour when a work choice backfires and, as has become custom for Ms. Cooper, both her professional career and personal life get thrown into charming European chaos. Look for The A.V. Club’s review on Thursday.
Human Specimens (Prime Video, Thursday, 3 a.m., miniseries premiere)
Drive My Car star Hidetoshi Nishijima leads this five-chapter adaptation of the Kanae Minato novel, a psychological thriller centered on a butterfly researcher who confesses to turning six young boys, including his own son, into “human specimens.” Ryûichi Hiroki, who previously brought Minato’s bestseller Bosei to the screen in 2022’s Motherhood, directs.
