Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, January 11 to Saturday, January 17. All times are Eastern.
New this week
Tell Me Lies (Hulu, Tuesday, 12 a.m., season three premiere)
Hulu’s drama is back for more carnal heat and romantic toxicity between on-again/off-again lovers Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White). Spring semester at Baird College finds the former embroiled in a campus-wide controversy while past indiscretions rise up to rattle the friend group. Check out The A.V. Club’s review.
Ponies (Peacock, Thursday, 3 a.m., miniseries premiere)
In this Cold War spy thriller from David Iserson (Mr. Robot) and Susanna Fogel (The Flight Attendant), the titular “PONIES”—that is, “Persons Of No Interest”—are played by two people of some interest, Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke and The White Lotus’ Haley Lu Richardson. Their Bea and Twila are secretaries at the American Embassy whose days of lowly desk life are traded for high-stakes CIA field work. Look for The A.V. Club’s review on Wednesday.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy (Paramount+, Thursday, 3 a.m., series premiere)
