What's on TV this week—The Pitt and Best Medicine

Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, January 4 to Saturday, January 10. All times are Eastern.

New this week

Best Medicine (Fox, Sunday, 8 p.m., series premiere)

A Stateside adaptation of the long-running British series Doc Martin, Fox’s latest medical dramedy stars Josh Charles as a brilliant Boston surgeon who gives up big-city life to start a practice in an East Coast fishing village. Check out The A.V. Club‘s review.

The Pitt (HBO Max, Thursday, 9 p.m., season two premiere)

Only a year after its acclaimed debut, the HBO Max medical drama is back for another high-stakes ER shift with Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle), Charge Nurse Evans (Katherine LaNasa), and the rest of the sharp but beleaguered staff of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Season two of the Emmy winner takes place over a chaotic July 4th weekend. The A.V. Club will recap the show weekly.

The Traitors (Peacock, Thursday, 9 p.m., season four premiere)

Another season of cunning duplicity, scenic Scottish castles, and Alan Cumming wearing little tartan capes is upon us, as the Peacock reality competition welcomes a new batch of backstabbers and truth tellers, including Lisa Rinna, Michael Rapaport, Johnny Weir, Kristen Kish, Monét X Change, and Donna Kelce. Look for The A.V. Club’s recap of the three-episode premiere on Thursday.

His & Hers (Netflix, Thursday, 3 a.m., miniseries premiere)

Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal pair up for this pulpy Netflix thriller, playing estranged spouses (an investigative reporter and a suspicious detective, respectively) who become entangled in a murder case when a body is discovered in a sleepy Georgia town. The six-parter also features Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, and Rebecca Rittenhouse. The A.V. Club’s review publishes Thursday.
