What's on TV this week—The Last Frontier and Boots

Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, October 5 to Saturday, October 11. All times are Eastern.

The biggies

The Last Frontier (Apple TV+, Friday, 12:01 a.m.)

Co-created by The Blacklist‘s Jon Bokenkamp, The Last Frontier centers on a rugged Alaskan town that’s thrown into chaos when a plane transporting prisoners crashes. Tasked with nabbing the escaped inmates, U.S. Marshal Frank Remnick (Jason Clarke) soon discovers that this was no accident. The cast also includes Simone Kessell, Alfre Woodard, Dominic Cooper, and Dallas Goldtooth. Check out The A.V. Club‘s review on Thursday.

Boots (Netflix, Thursday, 3:01 a.m.)

Miles Heizer (13 Reasons Why) leads this coming-of-age dramedy as a closeted young man who joins the Marines with his best friend (played by Liam Oh). Set in the early ’90s, when being gay in the military was illegal, Boots depicts their journeys of self-discovery. Look for an essay on the show next week.

Also airing

The Lost Station Girls (Hulu, Wednesday, 12:01 a.m.)

Inspired by a true story, this French thriller chronicles a police officer (portrayed by Emily In Paris‘ Camile Razat) who discovers a dead body during her first day on the job—and then embarks on a 20-year quest to hunt down a serial killer.

Victoria Beckham (Netflix, Thursday, 3:01 a.m.)

The makers of the Emmy-winning Beckham continue to capture this very famous family with a new three-part docuseries, which explores Victoria’s Spice Girls days, relationship with her husband, and fashion empire.
