Lawmen: Bass Reeves | Official Trailer | Paramount+
Taylor Sheridan has done it again—and by “it,” we mean created a Western drama that perfectly aligns with the rest of his recent TV offerings. Lawmen: Bass Reeves unpacks the life of the first Black U.S. Marshal in Arkansas, who helped nab more than 3,000 criminals. David Oyelowo leads a cast that also includes Donald Sutherland, Dennis Quaid, Garrett Hedlund, Dale Dickey, Shea Wigham, and Forrest Goodluck.
Apple TV+ serves up its version of Bridgerton with The Buccaneers, a period drama based on Edith Wharton’s novel of the same name. Set in the 1870s, the show follows a group of American women who move to London. Their arrival causes a major culture clash in society—and, of course, a lot of romance and love triangles, too. The cast features Kristine Froseth, Alisha Boe, Christina Hendricks, Josie Totah, and Simone Kirby. Look out for The A.V. Club’s review on Tuesday.
