The Jonathan Majors image rehabilitation tour is in full swing, with the former Kang The Conqueror actor appearing this morning on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter with the headline “Moment Of Truth.” The story presents Majors as a rising star whose career evaporated after he was found guilty of misdemeanor harassment and assault of his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in 2023. Nearly two years have passed since that verdict, and some of the biggest names in Hollywood would like to see him get another chance.

“You don’t get to say sorry these days,” says Whoopi Goldberg in THR’s story. Goldberg previously worked with Majors on the 2017 miniseries When We Rise, his first on-screen role. “He was arrested. He went to court. He did what he was supposed to do. I’m not sure what else there is.” Matthew McConaughey adds, “I’ve known and know him as someone who is continuously striving to improve as a human, a man and an actor. I believe in him.” Michael B. Jordan, who already spoke out in support of Majors in a GQ profile earlier this year, reaffirms his desire to work with Majors on Creed IV, “among other projects.”

This is contrasted with some other people who know him, namely, a different ex-girlfriend who had previously offered a pre-trial statement. “I don’t really care that his movie is coming out,” counters Maura Hooper. “What do you get at the end of a 52-week domestic violence course? Do the victims get a debrief? How could I know if he’s changed? I don’t see redemption happening here.”

As Hooper says, Majors does have a film coming out. Magazine Dreams initially earned positive reviews, and for Majors’ performance specifically, when it premiered at Sundance in 2023. But it was shelved by Searchlight Pictures after the trial, before it was eventually picked up by Briarcliff Entertainment last year. That company has found a lane distributing controversial projects that others are less keen to touch, like The Apprentice and Spotlight. Magazine Dreams will now release on Friday, March 21.
