With "Why Can't I," Those Darlins put a new spin on a country standard
Nashville’s Those Darlins make country rock meant to stir even the drunkest souls. The group’s new record, Blur The Line, came out last year via the group’s own Oh Wow Dang Records, and The A.V. Club has the premiere of one of the album’s best and most truthful songs, “Why Can’t I?” The ballad finds Jessi Darling bemoaning her inability to dream only of her boyfriend, making it an apt update on the old “cheating heart” country standard.
