Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway heading to Broadway
Producers Julian Schlossberg and Letty Aronson announced today that Allen is adapting his 1994 gangsters-meet-divas movie Bullets Over Broadway as a musical. Allen and original Bullets co-writer Douglas McGrath will collaborate on the stage version. The musical’s songs will be apparently culled from Prohibition-era Broadway, which at least means that U2 won’t be called in. The opening is set for sometime in 2013, which leaves Allen fans plenty of time to ponder the essential questions: Will Allen cast an actual mobster’s talentless girlfriend for verisimilitude? Can Manhattan: The Musical be far behind? And if so, can Waffles the dachshund finally have the chorus number he so richly deserves?
