Nathan Fielder's secret Elizabeth Holmes documentary opens next month

You Can See Everything, directed with Primetime and Ren Faire's Lance Oppenheim, premiered this weekend at Telluride.

Nathan Fielder's secret Elizabeth Holmes documentary opens next month

By now you may have heard arguably the biggest news out of the Telluride Film Festival this weekend: Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim have covertly made a documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, shot just before she began serving her prison sentence in 2023. According to a plot synopsis, “What begins as an intimate portrait of an enigmatic felon becomes a mind-bending three-year journey into the abyss.” The critics who got to see the nearly three-hour documentary during its Telluride premiere on Sunday night have received it quite warmly; there aren’t enough reviews yet on Rotten Tomatoes for there to be a consensus, but all seven of them are positive. 

What we’ve been able to see so far is a first short teaser, which presents Holmes and Fielder in what is essentially a staring contest. Fielder may have finally met his match, as far as finding a subject that is unwilling to blink, both literally and figuratively. 

According to the trailer and to A24’s press site, You Can See Everything is slated for release in October; a more confirmed release date hasn’t been officially offered yet. In any case, that makes for a pretty impressive month for Oppenheim; his film Primetime just opened at Venice this weekend and opens in theaters in the U.S. on September 25.
