A long-lost sequel to Night Of The Living Dead is coming to get Barbara next year

As The Walking Dead does its damnedest to inundate us with subpar zombie content, another project is shambling its way over the horizon, its dangling intestines beckoning us towards a brighter future. Bloody Disgusting has revealed that a Night Of The Living Dead sequel is on the way, one that the team behind the original movie apparently wrote more than 40 years ago.

“That history and Night Of The Living Dead’s place on the Mt. Rushmore of horror films is known by most horror fans and people all over the world,” goes a statement from Living Dead Media, the company behind the sequel. “But, unknown to most is that in the 1970’s, the original writers and producers of Night Of The Living Dead penned a sequel to their masterpiece. A sequel that inexplicably has gone unproduced for over forty years – until now. Living Dead Media has brushed away the dirt from this amazing follow up to a classic and brought together a great team to produce the new film.”

Obviously, there’s been no shortage of Dead sequels and spin-offs, with 1978's Dawn Of The Dead and 1985's Day Of The Dead being the best and most notable. It’s unknown as to whether this new sequel will operate similarly by telling an entirely new story set in the universe, or if it will again center around Night’s central farmhouse, but it won’t be too long until we get more details. Bloody Disgusting reports that the sequel is slated for release in 2019, which means the project is likely already underway.
