A refreshing analysis for the season of lists
Tired of the best-of lists crashing down on you as the year ends? Well, here's one mark against them that's not totally subjective: The Chicago literary blog Bookslut has posted an analysis of The New York Times' annual "notable books" list, finding a suspicious amount of the authors who end up on the list have written for the Times at one point or another. It's not really a hidden thing or even that hard to spot, but it's pleasing to have the statistics handy.
