A Twisted Metal movie is in the works from the Ghost Rider team
The long-running Twisted Metal game series—whose endlessly replayable, smash-‘em-up vehicular combat was at least 30 percent responsible for the drops in productivity and ambition that led to the “slacker ’90s”—is headed to the big screen, Deadline reports. Appropriately, the story of a no-holds-barred demolition derby between combatants in heavily weaponized vehicles, all vying to be granted a reality-warping wish from the mysterious game-master Calypso, will be told by a group familiar with blending action, the supernatural, and general batshit: Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance producers Avi and Ari Arad have hired that film’s co-director, Brian Taylor, to co-write and helm the live-action adaptation, making this Taylor’s first solo directing job away from his Crank collaborator Mark Neveldine.
