ABC gives the Emmys hosting job to Jimmy Kimmel
Jimmy Kimmel will host the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards, according to the unspoken yet universally accepted edict that whatever network is hosting the show gets to put one of its own stars front and center. And since the Emmys are on ABC this year, and the kid from Once Upon A Time works a little blue, the job went to Kimmel. It’s his first time, but of course, Kimmel is no stranger to hosting things, having presided over the American Music Awards, the ESPYs, next month’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and that nightly assemblage of YouTube videos where parents make their kids cry. “I hope to be able to do for the Emmys this year what Eddie Murphy did for the Oscars,” Kimmel said in the press release, suggesting that he plans to watch the ceremony while ensconced in his dank den, the broadcast flickering across his expressionless face as he chases away thoughts of yet another blown opportunity to regain his relevancy. Say, that does sound funny!
