This new trailer for Life, the sci-fi thriller starring Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal, seems to be making a conscious effort to remind you of some other space-themed movies you might’ve enjoyed in the past. The use of “Spirit In The Sky” comes straight from Guardians Of The Galaxy, the whole “escaped creature” angle is pretty much just Alien, and the relatively realistic setting is a bit like Gravity. Granted, all of those movies were pretty popular, so it would make sense that the team behind Life would want to evoke them, but it does set the bar a little high for this film. On its own merits, though, this Life trailer seems even scarier than the last one, so maybe it’ll end up being way better than Guardians, Alien, and Gravity.
We’ll know for sure when the film opens on March 24.
