Amazon quietly pulls Jeffrey Tambor from Emmy consideration

Netflix is still in the Jeffrey Tambor business, with the streaming service recently confirming that he’ll return to Arrested Development’s fifth season despite allegations that he sexually harassed a former assistant and one of his Transparent castmates, but Amazon—the home of Transparent—has quietly been cutting all ties to Tambor ever since the allegations came out. He was fired from Transparent in February, after conflicting reports came out about him quitting earlier, and while the show will continue without him, it will only do so for one more year. Now, according to award-tracking site Gold Derby (via IndieWire), Amazon has even pulled Tambor out of consideration for Emmy nominations.

Tambor won the Best Comedy Actor Emmy two years in a row, in 2015 and 2016, but he won’t be in the running this year even though he’s still eligible. Also, as Gold Derby notes, Amazon is still pushing other Transparent actors for Emmy nominations (including Gaby Hoffmann, Amy Landecker, and Jay Duplass), so Amazon is definitely leaving Tambor out on purpose.

As for Transparent, it most likely won’t return for its final season until next year.
