The CW’s Riverdale has proven that the old Archie characters have a lot of life left in them, or at least more than you’d think for a bunch of teens from a small town, and now they’re going to make a bit of history with a new “Bollywood-style” live-action adaptation. That’s according to Variety, which says film studio Graphic India has announced that it’s teaming up with Archie Comics for what it’s billing as “the first international comic to be translated for Indian screens.” Variety says the movie will reimagine the classic Archie characters (Archie, Betty, Veronica, Reggie, Moose, and Jughead are all named) with an Indian cast, and it will “feature all the elements of the comic book series”—which presumably means more of the classic Betty/Veronica/Archie love triangle drama than the murder mysteries and Jingle Jangle of Riverdale.
