Say what you will about Ariana Grande, the pop star who likes to be carried around like a baby and reportedly hates Americans, loves donuts, and gives zero fucks about germophobes. She knows Star Wars.
In fact, Grande gets something right that many Star Wars purists—and makers of witty T-shirts—get wrong. In celebration of the release of Star Wars: Episode VII—The Force Awakens, the pop singer has released a fun short video titled “Who Shot First.” In the clip, Grande, looking like a neo-Barbarella, explains that Han Solo didn’t shoot first. He’s the only one who shot. “Han shot, Greedo died: end of story,” the Star Wars truther succinctly states before wasting two drunk aliens, proving that memes are no match for a good blaster at your side.
There you have it, folks. And if you can’t trust Ariana Grande, then who can you trust? The cynical Star Wars fan may imply that it was Grande’s writers, or perhaps even her manager, that actually came up with this concept. That may be true, from a certain point of view, but if this clever bit can help one young Star Wars fan understand the truth about what happened in Mos Eisley Cantina, then Grande has done the galaxy a service.
