Ariana Grande takes break from promoting Wicked to promote new deluxe album

Grande confirmed that the deluxe album will be available on March 28, and accompanied the announcement with an image of her being pulled into what looks like some sort of alien tractor beam. She also suppressed any urge to make some kind of “Defying Gravity” joke about it, so kudos to her for that. 

At the Oscars on March 2, Grande said that the music “must come out” but declined to say that it was coming “soon.” “Soon means 10 days or less. I’m not allowed to use that word in this moment,” she told Variety ahead of the ceremony. “Not today. You’re so naughty. Keep your eyes peeled.” If soon means “10 days or less” we may need a new euphemism for “less than one month but more than 10 days.” Imminent, perhaps? 

Regardless, new pop music from Grande is certainly welcome. The singer already released the “slightly deluxe” version of the album last March, which featured remixed recordings of tracks from the original album. This edition, instead, is set to feature brand new songs. Of course, it won’t be long before Grande has a second Wicked movie to promote. This is a funny way to take a break, but you won’t find this writer complaining.
