Dan Levy is a preacher stumbling into an organized crime ring in Big Mistakes trailer

After a handful of guest appearances in TV shows and a couple of films, Dan Levy’s big Schitt’s Creek follow-up is almost ready for Netflix. The streamer shared the first trailer for Big Mistakes this morning, which brings Levy back as a TV writer after his writing, directing, and acting Emmy wins for the final season of Schitt’s Creek. He stars here as some sort of preacher, with Taylor Ortega playing his sister. Both of them end up involved with an organized crime syndicate and seem to take the situation about as seriously as you’d expect.

An official synopsis for the series reads:

Big Mistakes follows Nicky (Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega), two deeply incapable siblings who are in over their heads when a misguided theft for their dying grandmother accidentally pulls them into the world of organized crime. Blackmailed into increasingly dangerous assignments, they clumsily fail upwards, sinking deeper into chaos they’re ill-equipped to handle.

Big Mistakes has had a pretty bumpy road to its debut. At one point, Rachel Sennott was set to play Morgan but left when HBO picked up I Love LA. Deadline reported last May that the casting change also came with an overhaul of the writers’ room after what reads like a pretty tense creative process. We’ll see what the team put together when Big Mistakes hits Netflix on April 9.
