Danny and Michael Philippou really aren’t playing around, huh? After they gave us one of the scariest features of 2022 with Talk To Me (and a brand new cursed object that admittedly seems a little tempting to play with), no one thought the Australian brother-director team’s next outing would be G-rated by any means. Even so, the trailer for Bring Her Back makes Talk To Me look like a Pixar movie.

You may need to do some yoga to release the tension in your shoulders after watching this 99-second clip. Everything is dialed up to 11, from the vague but sinister-looking ritual, to the very creepy child, to the giant, property-wide salt circle, to the grainy camcorder footage, to what this writer would classify as entirely too much creaking and groaning in the background.

Like the film’s previous teaser, the trailer doesn’t reveal much about the film’s actual plot, other than the fact that it will probably keep you up for at least a night or two. The official synopsis reads simply: “A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.” It’s still unclear exactly what the ritual involves—though the end result seems to be reincarnation-related, as suggested by the film’s title—but “terrifying” is certainly the right word.

Bring Her Back stars Sally Hawkins, Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips, Mischa Heywood, and the material for your next few nightmares. The film premieres May 30 in theaters.
