Talk To Me duo debuts suitably chilling Bring Her Back trailer
Introducing Endless Mode: A New Games & Anime Site from Paste

If you were morbidly curious about what it would feel like to get possessed by the Talk To Me hand (against your better judgment, of course), sibling/director duo Danny and Michael Philippou have a whole new ritual for you to try. It’s unclear exactly what the process entails, but no good occult practice gives up its secrets that easily. All we know right now is that it looks spooky as hell.

Said ritual is the focus of Bring Her Back, A24’s latest collaboration with the Philippou brothers. The film’s synopsis doesn’t reveal any real details either. “A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother,” it reads. We know these kids probably didn’t have much of a choice, but word to the wise: if you suspect even a bit that you’re in a horror movie-esque situation, try your damnedest to avoid secluded homes! Nothing good ever happens there!

The new trailer is claustrophobic as hell. It starts with a cute cat that had better make it to the end, before launching into a torrent of deeply unsettling imagery. We see a trapped girl with a black eye, someone wailing at a coffin (or from inside the coffin? It’s hard to tell…), a lot of implied body horror, and a naked man approaching a young girl inside some sort of creepy prayer circle. This one is not for the faint of heart.

Bring Her Back stars Sally Hawkins as the foster mother, along with Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips, and Mischa Heywood. The Philippous’ reunion with A24 was effectively written in blood as soon as Talk To Me hit theaters. The film earned a whopping $92 million at the box office, the studio’s third most successful release behind Everything Everywhere All At Once and Civil War, per ScreenRant.

Bring Her Back premieres May 30. Proceed with caution.
