CBS’ next summer mystery to feature fewer domes, more animal attacks
Hot on the heels of series-low ratings for Under The Dome’s second-season debut (but please, by all means, continue enjoying The A.V. Club’s continuing coverage of Under The Dome), CBS has announced its next literary-based show full of ludicrous mysteries. Zoo, based on the James Patterson novel of the same name, has received a straight-to-series order from the network, with 13 episodes set to debut in the summer of 2015. Moving American viewers away from their inherent interest in domes and the exhilarating drama that stems from domes, Zoo will follow a young biologist who investigates a string of potentially linked animal attacks occurring around the world. Has that young biologist stopped to ask the question “Might any town-sized domes be causing these animals to behave strangely?” Has he taken into account domes and their history of violence against large mammals? Is it possible that the creatures mounting these assaults are in fact many tiny domes disguised as animals, hoping to trap humanity one person at a time? Results remain inconclusive, as all synopses of CBS’ Zoo contain no mention of the word “dome.”
CBS’ Zoo follows Fox’s previous, partially fictionalized survey of what happens when animals attack. Seems like this could all be prevented with the use of a few strategically placed domes.
