CBS to start giving all its streaming show lovin' to Amazon Prime too
Much as Miramax and NBC Universal have publicly declared that they’re not looking to commit, CBS has just made good on its own non-exclusive bond with Netflix by signing a deal with Amazon Prime, opening itself up to the polyamorous sharing of its content with more than one provider. Under the agreement, CBS will hand over episodes of new and classic CBS-produced shows like The Tudors, Numb3rs, Medium, Cheers, Frasier, and the entire Star Trek franchise—giving up all of its goods, in other words—to Amazon customers who have been waiting to get a little piece of that action. The news comes after a couple of weeks of ominous developments for Netflix’s former dominance over all streaming content, but maybe it’s just that sort of bullying that makes a studio want to see other services?
