Future politician/current hip-hop star Chance The Rapper is always looking out for the kids of Chicago, whether he’s donating a ton of money to public schools, convincing others to donate money to public schools, or fighting with the governor of Illinois over how little he cares about public schools, and this summer he’s launching a brand new project for the city’s artistically inclined kids. As reported by Fact, Chance is working with his Social Works nonprofit and an audio engineering startup called LANDR to organize classes on audio mastering that will teach kids how to produce their own music.
Chance hasn’t specifically said this, but the subtext here is that the famously major label-averse rapper is trying to make it easier for other aspiring artists to also forge their own independent careers that are free from the demands of heartless record labels.
