Chuck Lorre responds to Donald Trump via sarcastic vanity card

Chuck Lorre is continuing his long-running feud with President Donald Trump in the most Chuck Lorre way: With a vanity card at the end of one of his TV shows. In response to White House spokesperson Davis Ingle recently telling Fox News Digital that Lorre should “immediately seek psychiatric help to treat his severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has completely rotted his peanut-sized brain,” the Big Bang Theory creator has made light of the situation. According to multiple outlets, including Variety, tonight’s season three premiere of Young Sheldon spin-off Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will conclude with a vanity card from Lorre’s production company. In the message, Lorre jokes about being open to seeking psychiatric help and goes on a slight tangent about a potential explanation for his behavior. He ends by sarcastically thanking the government for looking out for his mental health.

The full vanity card reads:

“A spokesperson for the White House recently announced that I need psychiatric help. I don’t disagree. I’m not a big fan of mood-altering drugs or electroshock therapy, you know, Cuckoo’s Nest stuff, but I would be up for a chat with a trained professional who gently encourages me to seek out childhood experiences that negatively impact my thinking and behavior. (A possible culprit could be weekly atomic bomb drills in grade school. This involved hiding under my desk to avoid being cut to ribbons from the classroom windows imploding.) It might also be worth investigating if toxins in my environment bear any responsibility for my ‘derangement.’ (Can’t ignore all those mesothelioma commercials.) Regardless of how we proceed, I do appreciate this very public concern for my mental health. It’s comforting to know my government is looking out for me.”

Lorre has never shied away from voicing his disdain for Trump, most recently when he accepted an award at the Project Angel Food Angel Awards Gala. During his speech, the honoree referred to the president as a “bloated orange piece of shit,” according to The Daily Beast, which prompted the White House spokesperson to, unsurprisingly, take the low road. You can see the title card in action for yourself when Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage returns for season three tonight at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
