His story: Col. Robert Hendry is a political pawn of the Hellfire Club in X-Men: First Class, forced by Sebastian Shaw into voicing support for military action that increases tensions between the U.S. and Russia. When he goes to Shaw for the payoff he never receives, Hendry takes a grenade out of his pocket and threatens to pull the pin, which would be a valiant act of sacrifice is Shaw wasn’t capable of absorbing and redirecting energy. Shaw grabs the grenade and pulls the pin himself, taking in the full force of the blast that he then transfers to Hendry with a touch, disintegrating the man in a flash of bright light.
