Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s animated juggernaut will begin its 19th(!) season on Wednesday, September 16 at 10 pm ET. Moonbeam City will immediately follow it at 10:30. The show is described as an “absurdist, retro-futuristic ’80s cop extravaganza.” Here’s a breakdown of what that means:
Comedy Central’s new animated series follows Dazzle Novak (voiced by Rob Lowe), a handsome, idiotic detective who commits more crimes than most criminals. His sexy, tyrannical chief Pizzaz Miller (Elizabeth Banks) won’t get off his back. His obnoxious rival Rad Cunningham (Will Forte) will stop at nothing to destroy him. Dazzle must team up with the city’s only competent police officer, Chrysalis Tate (Kate Mara), to protect their beloved, neon-soaked metropolis.
The following Wednesday will see the season two premiere of the animated comedy shorts series TripTank, at 11 pm ET. Then, on Monday, September 28, we get that Daily Show debut. Finally, Thursday, October 15 sees the return of self-proclaimed business expert Nathan Fielder’s Nathan For You. But in the midst of these very high-profile shows, Comedy Central also wants to make you’re aware of some new short-form series it’s rolling out. Returning shorts like “Six Guys One Car” and “New Timers” will be joined by new titles like “White Flight.” You can read the descriptions of these new programs, along with release dates for the new round of stand-up specials (including one from Trevor Noah himself), at Coming Soon’s listings. Some of them sound promising, especially if you like the idea of “D’yer Mak’er”-hater Matt Braunger being the last white guy in Los Angeles.
