Watch This: Conan O’Brien brings Hot Ones doctor on his podcast for a check-up

O’Brien’s Hot Ones interview “broke the internet,” as marketing people used to say when a magazine published a picture of a butt in 2015. Throughout the interview, the former late-night host introduced America to Dr. Arroyo, who would periodically check in on his patient spreading scolding hot sauce all over his body. Later, O’Brien admitted to a laundry list of injuries sustained during the interview, including “runny” eyes, a “really hurt” mouth, and burning sensations under his wedding ring.

That’s not to say that Dr. Arroyo wasn’t monitoring his patient closely. “If you want a good first opinion for any medical thing,” he said, “come to me.” Testing his doctor’s skills, O’Brien used Hot Ones as an example. During his Hot Ones appearance, Dr. Arroyo “applied a stethoscope to [O’Brien’s] tongue,” which received some blowback in the medical community.

“I was listening for any kind of aberration,” Dr. Arroyo explained. “Any kind of weird, um, thing, you know. Basically, I listen to your tongue, and I didn’t hear any screaming. I didn’t hear anything unusual. It was dead, so I thought you were fine.”
