But enough shop talk! Delphi (billed as “the first live-action series extension of the Creed Universe”) is “focused on young boxers at the Delphi gym,” per a Prime Video press release. Marcos Ramírez (The Defenders, Jordan Peele’s The Twilight Zone) will serve as showrunner on the series. Michael B. Jordan, star of Creed (and director of the third installment), will executive produce.
Back in 2023, it was reported that Jordan was spearheading the creation of the Creed-Verse, encompassing both film and television projects, with Amazon MGM Studios. In addition to a live action companion series (made manifest with Delphi), other rumored projects included an anime series (MBJ is a big anime guy) and something “centering on Adonis Creed’s daughter Amara,” per Deadline. A spin-off film about Dolph Lundgren’s Ivan Drago and his son Viktor Drago (portrayed by Florian Munteanu in Creed 2) has long been in development, though Lundgren said in 2024 that it was put on hold in favor of Creed 4.
Most of this seems to have gone forward without the say-so of Rocky star and writer Sylvester Stallone, who has long been at loggerheads with the franchise’s custodian, producer Iriwn Winkler. “After IRWIN WINKLER And FAMILY SUCK ROCKY DRY ! Presumed to be the most hated , untalented , decrepited , Producer in Hollywood and his cowardly children have found their next meal… Drago ?” Stallone posted to Instagram in 2022, accompanied by an image of Winkler as a vampire. Deadline once reported that MGM was toying with the idea of some sort of Rocky origin story with which Stallone would be involved, but it’s unclear where the action star stands with the franchise at the moment. (He did not appear in Creed 3, but was credited as a producer.) Hopefully Jordan got a blessing from the original boxer to architect this new cinematic universe—if not, there are some good MBJ vampire images available that Stallone could use on Instagram.
