CW veterans Rachel DiPillo and Torrey DeVitto join Chicago Med
A few days ago, NBC’s Chicago Med—the upcoming second spinoff of Chicago Fire—lost The Walking Dead’s Laurie Holden, who had been signed on to play one of the show’s leads. Holden cited “family reasons” at the time, and NBC announced that it would be replacing her character with three new ones—”an emergency pediatrician, a charge nurse, and a young first-year resident”—rather than recasting her. Now, two of those spots have been filled. Jane The Virgin’s Rachel DiPillo will be playing Dr. Sarah Reese, a character that Deadline describes as “an emergency room intern who’s fresh out of medical school.” She’ll be joined by Torrey DeVitto (who has appeared on Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries), and she’ll be playing Dr. Lilly Manning, “a pregnant ER physician.” We assume that just leaves the “charge nurse” to be cast, so anyone who has played a recurring character on a CW show should wait by their phone.
