Daisy Ridley takes a break from Star Wars to star in Holocaust drama
When someone stars in a big movie like Star Wars, it’s important that they take on some non-Star Wars roles as soon as possible to prove that there’s more to their acting talent than shooting blasters and yelling at droids. This is especially true for Daisy Ridley, who made Rey one of the most likable characters in The Force Awakens, but could easily get to a point where people only see her as Rey if she isn’t careful. Luckily for Ridley, then, she’s currently attached to star in a Holocaust drama that sounds about as far from The Force Awakens as you can get—if you ignore the Nazi imagery that Star Wars villains love so much, of course.
This comes from Variety, which reports that Ridley is set to star in The Lost Wife, a film about “a talented art student” named Lenka living in Prague who falls “madly in love” with her friend’s brother. Unfortunately, before the two of them can go on a romantic romp around the Vltava River, the Nazis invade and start doing their evil Nazi thing. The Lost Wife is based on a book of the same name by Alyson Richman, and though a movie studio hasn’t officially picked it up, Variety‘s sources say it’s a “top priority” for the producers.
