Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro continues to tighten his belt at the ol’ House Of Mouse, though certain divisions are feeling the squeeze more than others in this latest round of layoffs. Per a Tuesday report from Deadline, a “couple of hundred employees” in Disney’s tech and human resources sectors will be given their walking papers following the conclusion of a “voluntary early retirement” process that gently nudged out employees who had reached or exceeded 50 years of age after at least 10 years with the company. This process is considered a “precursor to involuntary staff reductions,” Deadline noted, and came amid internal fears of further layoffs, with phrases like “hard choices,” “staffing investments,” and “transformation process” flying around, which are certainly things you never want to hear while working at the corporate level.
