District 9 director and star reuniting for another round of politically minded sci-fi

It’s not the still-probable sequel to District 9 that director Neill Blomkamp has been hinting at since before the film’s release, but his next project should come close: Deadline reports that Blomkamp will reunite with actor Sharlto Copley for another round of sociopolitical sci-fi, “a story set in the far future on another planet” that he’s currently pitching to several interested studios titled Elysium—which is either a heady, possibly ironic reference to the concept of paradise, or an indicator that Blomkamp is moving from prawns to giant sea slugs. Maybe both?
