Donald Daters, the dating app for horny MAGA chuds, leaked all of its users' data

Pro-Trump dating apps aren’t just real, they’re deeply necessary. Several have popped up over the years, and they’re all terrible. Trump.Dating, for example, made headlines when it was revealed that the face of the service had a child sex conviction. Well, in the wake of that site’s failings comes Donald Daters, an “American-based singles community connecting lovers, friends, and Trump supporters alike” that made quite the entrance yesterday when its launch coincided with the leak of its entire database of just over 1,600 users.

Motherboard reports that names, profile photos, and other biographical details were included in the leak, as were access tokens to accounts and private messages. Baptiste Robert, a French security researcher who operates under the Mr. Robot-aping name Elliot Alderson, made the discovery, showing how the app exposed user information in an open database.

“All your personal information is kept private,” Donald Daters promises in a frequently asked questions section.

The app responded to the news on Tuesday, releasing a statement saying they’ve “taken swift and decisive action to remedy the mistake and make all possible efforts to prevent this from happening again.” Of course, because this is a pro-Trump app filled with whiny conservatives, the statement somehow finds a way to spend more words bleating about “liberal intolerance” and the “extreme hostility” faced by Trump supporters than it does addressing the breach.

Even with the breach fixed, it sounds as if you’re better off looking for love elsewhere. Motherboard’s piece also includes a brief review of the app, which it describes thusly:

Motherboard downloaded and tested the app, which, as far as dating apps go, is clunky and seemingly barely functional. Despite stating preferences as “looking for women in New York City,” Motherboard was shown exclusively men who claimed to live in other parts of the country. The app allows users to post publicly as well, and there appeared to only be a few posts. Personality questions on users’ profiles asks them what they are “triggered” by, and numerous things throughout the app are misspelled or nonfunctional. The app also only lets users look at 10 people before locking them out and asking them to pay the $29.99 monthly fee. Motherboard cannot rule out that this is a not-so-elaborate scheme to own Republicans.
