Even autocrats have their favorite art. Hitler apparently favored Swiss landscapes, while Philippines first couple Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos enjoyed the Impressionists (even if many of their Manets and Renoirs were reportedly stolen). Saddam Hussein’s predilection for lurid, D&D-style fantasy portraits is a whole other conversation.
So why shouldn’t Donald Trump’s chosen music playlist offer up a little insight. According to several members of the press corps as quoted by USA Today, Trump sent an aide into the plane’s cabin on a recent flight back from his widely protested Irish visit to ask if they wanted to listen in on Trump’s “playlist” while he worked. Popping on the mix titled “Approved Rally Playlist” provided a glimpse into just what Trump referred to as “good music,” although, relative quality aside, the selections do raise some questions.
