The part of the story where the paranoid despot turns on even his closest allies usually has a happy ending, right? Unrelatedly, President Donald Trump had some choice words for Fox News on his social media network Truth Social after the broadcaster aired a poll indicating record-low approval ratings for the first 100 days of his current term in office. “Rupert Murdoch has told me for years that he is going to get rid of his FoxNews, Trump Hating, Fake Pollster, but he has never done so,” Trump complained online (via Deadline). “This ‘pollster’ has gotten me, and MAGA, wrong for years. Also, and while he’s at it, he should start making changes at the China Loving Wall Street Journal. It sucks!!!”

While nothing seems to shake the true Trump loyalists, the whole “destabilizing the economy with an ill-conceived trade war” has not made him popular elsewhere. Per Fox News, 48 percent of respondents disapprove of Trump overall. 56 percent disapprove of Trump on the economy (“a new low,” according to the network), 59 percent disapprove on inflation, 58 percent disapprove on foreign policy, 54 percent disapprove on foreign policy, 53 percent disapprove on taxes, and 44 percent disapprove on guns. The president, who has responded to unfavorable coverage by threatening to revoke licenses or block mergers, obviously did not take kindly to this bad news.

Elsewhere in Trump’s ongoing media obsession, the president announced that on Thursday he would “be meeting with, of all people, Jeffrey Goldberg,” The Atlantic editor-in-chief who was mistakenly added to a group chat with Trump admin officials planning an attack on terrorists in Yemen. On Truth Social, Trump described Goldberg as “the person responsible for many fictional stories about me, including the made-up HOAX on ‘Suckers and Losers’ and, SignalGate, something he was somewhat more ‘successful’ with.” Goldberg will apparently be accompanied by Michael Scherer and Ashley Parker, “not exactly pro-Trump writers, either, to put it mildly!” Trump wrote.

The president shared, “The story they are writing, they have told my representatives, will be entitled, ‘The Most Consequential President of this Century.’ I am doing this interview out of curiosity, and as a competition with myself, just to see if it’s possible for The Atlantic to be ‘truthful.’ Are they capable of writing a fair story on ‘TRUMP’? The way I look at it, what can be so bad – I WON!”
