Dry your eyes, Chicago, and see The Curse Of La Llorona early and for free

The Curse Of La Llorona—starring Linda Cardellini as a social worker who goes up against the child-hungry ghost in 1970s Los Angeles—isn’t the first horror movie to feature the wailing woman of Latinx folklore. (That would be the 1961 Mexican film La maldicion de la llorona, according to The Hollywood Reporter.) But it does mark her entry into the ever-growing catalog of films spun off from James Wan’s The Conjuring, where she’ll now lurk in the shadows alongside the likes of Annabelle and The Nun.
