Dwayne Johnson moves forward with his “Die Hard in China” movie
Dwayne Johnson is such a reliable action star at this point that he can just slot himself into whatever kind of movie he wants to make, and all he has to do is put on a tight shirt, react to some computer-generated explosions, make a few quips, and cash a check. It would be dull and cynical if it weren’t so consistently entertaining, and fresh off of Dwayne Johnson And The Earthquake, Dwayne Johnson And The Ocean, Dwayne Johnson And The Monsters, and Dwayne Johnson And Kevin Hart, he has signed on star in Skyscraper, a movie that might as well be called Dwayne Johnson And The Burning Building.
This comes from Screen Crush, which naturally got the news from Johnson’s Instagram page. Apparently, Johnson will play “a disabled war veteran” who has to save his wife and kids from a fire that has engulfed the world’s tallest building, and it will start filming this summer in China for a July 13, 2018 release. Last May, this movie was pitched as “Die Hard in China,” but it sounds like the building being on fire is a relatively new addition.
