Hannah Einbinder has a pretty solid Haley Stevens impression, as it happens

As everyone wakes up to a reality in which Democrats decisively trounced Republicans in the American Midterm elections Tuesday night, people are spending their Wednesday morning sifting through the remaining races while also taking a moment or two to chortle over the glut of memeable moments that have sprung from social media in its wake. One such moment involves Hacks actor and impassioned activist Hannah Einbinder, whose latest performance as Democratic U.S. representative Haley Stevens (per Deadline) is riding high in the cresting Blue Wave that swept this year’s Midterms.

After previously posting on her Instagram account on Tuesday that “if our guys (gender neutral) win tonight” she would “debut [her] perfect Haley Stevens impression,” sure enough, at around 2:06 a.m. Eastern time, Einbinder was seen in a video (watch it here) flexing her Emmy Award-winning chops in a mock impression of Stevens, who had defiantly leaped over party lines to endorse Michigan’s Trump-backed GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers on Monday. Rogers was running against progressive candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who defeated Stevens in the Michigan Primary elections earlier this year. (Fox News called the race for El-Sayed by 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.) Seated in a bar and gesticulating wildly with a nasal Michigander accent, Einbinder made good on her promise. “We’re gonna give ’em a little bit of energy, a little bit of pow, a little bit of stick it to ’em, ’cause that’s the Michigan way!” she squeaked.

As for what’s next for Stevens after this presumably humiliating experience (if, in fact, party-hopping politicians experience such things), who the hell knows—but it certainly won’t include sitting in the U.S. House Of Representatives, which she gave up during her Senate bid. U..S. Representative-elect Jeremy Moss will swear in to her previously-held seat in January.

How did Einbinder do with her impression? Compare and contrast the above with Stevens’ recent interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, in which she defends her bewildering defection in the video below.
