They may be faster than a speeding bullet, but even superheroes can enjoy a moment of quiet reflection amongst nature. At least, that’s the idea behind Benoit Lapray’s new photography series “The Quest For The Absolute.” Each picture finds a superhero in a beautiful landscape, alone with just nature and their thoughts. It’s hard to tell if these are meant to be melancholic poses, lonely images of good people forever divorced from a society that will forever fear and misunderstand them. Or perhaps it’s just a moment of quiet reflection, a peaceful lull in their otherwise chaotic lives to enjoy their simple surroundings without having to rescue people or stop the world from exploding. Or maybe all of them took a wrong turn at Albuquerque and are just lost.
