What We Do In The Shadows (the FX series) is the untrue story of three vampires who picked to live in a house in Staten Island and have their lives—and plans for New World domination—taped. The first trailer for the FX series, created by WWDITS filmmakers Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, shows us what happens when these deluded individuals—played by Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, and Natasia Demetriou—stop being polite and start getting into really silly fights with grocery store clerks and pissing werewolves.
A former warrior and ruler of the Ottoman Empire, Nandor (Kayvan) is the leader of this centuries-old trio of supernatural dupes, who, according to a new press release, were tasked with taking over a New York borough, but have hardly kept up with the modern world. Berry and Demetriou play quarreling lovers Laszlo and Nadja, respectively; they mostly tolerate Nandor’s attempts to lead them, but as a “vampiric Bonnie and Clyde,” they’re also looking for a way to come out on top. Harvey Guillen, Mark Proksch, and Beanie Feldstein also inhabit this ridiculous world, with Waititi directing and Clement writing on the series. In addition to sharing a glimpse of this preening group, FX also announced the premiere date, which is set for March 27.
The trailer premiere and debut date are just a few of the updates coming out of FX day at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
